Why is Hindi teaching/learning so badly broken in the South?

Hindi was my second language at school until 10th standard. However I know very little Hindi - for instance I cannot tell which word is masculine and which one is feminine. Also I have no real clue of various grammar rules. I barely passed my CBSE 10std Hindi exam, basically by memorizing and regurgitating answers my Hindi teacher used to write out for us. Thankfully I switched to French for my 11th and 12th and I think I enjoyed learning French a lot more, and ended up learning a lot more French in the two years compared to the 10 years of Hindi. read more
