Grades versus percentages

An interesting dissection of the pitfalls of grades as a measure of performance in the related link below. I have heard some talk about moving to a graded system of evaluation here in India as well.

In the college I attended, grades were used and even though I benefited more often than not because of them, I always thought that it was a pretty unfair and mathematically imprecise manner of evaluation. read more

Grades and/or Marks - is the medium the message?

Secondary Education Boards/Schools around the world seem evenly divided in their choice of using Grades, Marks or a combination of both counting to points or grade-points. The Mark, Grade and Point descriptors seek to convey the educational import of the assessment.
