Stories of Peace

I received this book from Arvind Gupta accompanied with this note -

"Today I stumbled upon a wonderful book on PEACE STORIES by a very famous author Martin Auer - he is a very distinguished author - winner of the Hans Christian Anderson and other awards. He has put them on his website for free individual downloads. His story THE BLUE BOY is already out in 25 languages. Here is a really kind man who for world peace has done such a selfless job. read more

Living in Harmony - Peace Education curriculum

Good 'Peace education' and 'value education' curriculum seems to be the need of the hour today in the light of the disturbing trend of increased violence among school children. I'm quite certain that teachers, however well-meaning & well-intentioned they may be, often don't know how to go about handling this subject with kids today. read more

Stress Tolerance

This issue of JSSW focuses on "Stress Tolerance" which explains how and why stress develops; how to combat it or go with it with tolerance. Excellent resource material for teachers and parents who handle children day in and day out!

Scientific and Technological Literacy - UNESCO Resource Kit

One more great curriculum resource from UNESCO on interdisciplinary teaching of science for upper elementary and middle school, through looking at day to day issues. The STL Resource kit is divided into 26 modules that are available as individual downloads (pdf files) or the complete kit as one pdf file. The modules deal with issues such as Cars & Energy, Fuels for the Future, Managing Water Resources, Understanding Bio-diversity, Investigating Pollution - to name a few. read more

Teaching & Learning for a Sustainable Future - Interdisciplinary Curriculum from UNESCO

A fantastic resource for all teachers!

This is a free teacher education program that trains teachers on how to teach and build interdisciplinary curriculum around the very important theme of "sustainablity". It is a very well-laid out (with a color-coded design) and content-rich website. I would urge all to browse through it as a source for curriculum ideas and teaching & learning strategies (which are generic to any subject), even if you don't do the complete program. read more
